Dental Crowns & Bridges

Most dentistry looks like dentistry. Our goal is to provide dentistry that is undetectable.

Crowns and bridges are an extremely reliable treatment option that offer your a long-lasting, natural looking result for correction of major dental problems.

Most commonly, we recommend crowns and bridges for the following reasons:

  • replace existing crowns or fillings
  • replace missing teeth to give you a complete smile and a functional bite

It is usual for these treatments to last for 20 to 30 years, which is as close to permanent as dental treatment can get.

What is a Crown?

A tooth-shaped “cap” that is placed over a tooth – to cover the tooth and restore its shape and size, strengthen it, and improve its appearance.

What is a bridge?

A bridge is made up of two or more crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap – these two or more anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth – and a false tooth/teeth in between. It literally bridges the gap created by one or more missing teeth.

How long does it take to fit a crown/bridge?

Fitting a crown requires at least two visits to our office. Initially, we will remove decay, shape the tooth, take an impression, and place a temporary crown. Since the crown/bridge must be fabricated very precisely to ensure correct bite and to match the opposing teeth, we have your crown/bridge custom made just for you at a lab. Approximately 2-3 weeks later, we will remove the temporary crown and then fit and adjust the final crown. Finally, we will cement the crown into place and you have a new beautiful looking tooth.
